What is pharmacognosy?
Pharmacognosy is the study of drugs of Natural origin .The terms come from two greek words first "Pharmakon"means drugs or medicine and second is gnosis means knowledge .The american society of pharmacognosis define it as the study of physical ,chemical ,biochemical and biological properties of drugs or drugs substances of natural origin as well as search of drugs from natural sources .Therefore it os the study of drugs from plants and animals kingdom and their natural derevatives.
